It's been over a year since Equestria Digital released the Winter Project, and since then, both the fandom and ED has grown much larger. We're nearing thirty thousand page views and a thousand watchers, and that's no small success.
The 2013 Project is a collection of the absolute best the fandom has to offer when it comes to customizing your desktop.
One hundred and fifty wallpapers line the walls of ED 2013, and Equestria Digital itself, as a dA group, has over 3000 wallpapers. So I recommend you check those out!
In addition to our dA group, we have a forum! Right here is where you'll find like-minded artists, tutorials, and critical feedback on your work.
I hope you all enjoy 2013, both the year and the Project!
Tip: When in the wallpaper folder of the ED Project, if you search by artist name, all of their wallpapers inside will appear Most (if not all) of the desktop icons are Windows 7 and Vista only. Sorry XP users! All materials in this pack have been submitted to the dA group, and so their copyright allows distribution without profit.
Maybe I'll try a special add-on called Rainmeter. It is now supported Windows 8 since it was releasing the version 2.5. But my question is: Is this written on .rmskin file format? [I also made a comment since 05·14·13, before 11:00 PM.]
After delving into this pile of digital media, I will comment on things that I've used, seen or heard. First, each theme has an imbalanced amount of wallpapers, like there're SHIT LOADS of Queen Chrysalis wallpapers in Queen Chrysalis's theme, but there're only 12 Applejack wallpapers for Applejack's (in the "Visual Styles" folder). Some of them don't even have their original title and keeping the titles original is my personal preference. Second, why separate the wallpapers into 2 folders - "Visual Styles" and "+ Wallpapers"? It's not that much of a hassle to add the wallpapers to my wallpaper folder, but seems kinda unnecessary. Third, why does the iTunes CMC skin change only so much? My iTunes window is still 90% white and I'm using the latest version of it (11.0.2). Fourth, you should have mentioned which stuff I can't use if I am using Windows 8, or hell, maybe make a Windows 7 pack and a Windows 8 pack! It'd be much more convenient to just download the files compatible with your OS. Now that I'm done with the negatives, let's move onto the positives. First, thanks for providing shit loads of wallpapers, even though I'm not using all of them, there still are ones that are too awesome not to be in my library. Second, the Rainbow Dash cursor is cool. Third, the Rainbow Dash Start Orb could use some more work to smoothen the edge, but right now, it's good enough for me. Fourth, although I won't be using the desktop icons, I just want to say they're all nicely made. I look forward to the next Equestria Digital Project. Keep up the good work.
A lot of what you've described is down to the creators of the content. Whilst they all members of ED, they were not specifically sought out to make content for this pack. It's a compilation post of what's best.
Having said that, I've been in contact with the creator of the visual styles and the next time around we'll have cut down on the wallpapers within the Visual Styles.
We have a seperate Wallpaper folder because that is the folder specific to wallpapers, whereas the visual styles were compiled separately.
The iTunes skin changes as much as its creator intended, personally I feel it is more than enough. Alas, he cannot cater to everyone's tastes.
Windows 8 has not been out long enough for it to have compatible skins. The icons should work on Win 8. We will not be making two packs, it's not popular enough to warrant it (very few have adopted Win 8).
